The Biggest Health Mistake… and How To Avoid It!

Pink new rose on a black background

Would you like to know the BIGGEST mistake I see people make with their health?

In fact, it is a common thread for anyone who wants to take on anything new.

If you’re anything like me and you’ve ever dreamt about success, it occupies your waking and sleeping thoughts.

You talk about your big goals, you rework the possibilities, you even make a plan.  And then what?

I laugh to myself sometimes because I get frustrated with my business in very similar ways I hear others talk about their health struggles. Not that it is funny, but there are many similarities between turning your health around (in a positive way) and running a business.

Because any time we are doing something new or out of comfort zone the desire to succumb to fears, throw our hands up in frustration, and justify bailing because we just weren’t “born successful” in fitness, business, cooking, math, investing, (fill in the blank), happens to all of us.

With my biz, there are days when I have to take some deep breaths, step away from my computer, put myself in a time-out to regroup and, when I am ready, take myself through a mini coaching session or call my husband/mom/friend to vent through my frustrations.

I’ve made many, many mistakes on my journey even though I’ve set goals, shown up, done new things, put myself out there and kept trying.

(I’ve also made heaps of mistakes with my health too, but they are much easier for me to deal with because I’ve been at it for much longer and had a longer track record of success.)

This mistake has nothing to do with wasting money or time (although I have done plenty of that!).

The BIGGEST mistake people make is worrying too much about being perfect.

The Perfection Paradox: You know you need to make some changes, but you’re afraid you’re going to mess something up.  So… you do nothing.

And I see this OVER and OVER again with people just like you.

So how do you get over it?

I had to give myself permission to take imperfect action.

This was like a breath of fresh air!

Breathe and have FUN!

The new goal was Progress, NOT Perfection.

And the big key to making this work?  It’s not a one time permission slip! I have to do this over and over again.  Every day.  Sometimes in the same hour until it becomes easier!  For a natural perfectionist like me, it is hard to do sometimes.

Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.  – Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

Now, I’d like to hear from you!

What is the biggest mistake you feel like you are making with your health?  Perfectionism or something else?

Let me know in the comments below.
